In 1851 he was living at ? Cottages, Wolstanton. In 1861 he was lodging in King Street. In 1871 census, the Rhead family was living at Upper Mount Street, Tunstall. There were 3 boarders, William Cartlege, Samuel Rowley and Sarah Shaw. By 1881 the family had grown and had moved to 21 Copley St., Wolstanton. By 1891 the family was back in Tunstall at 34 King Street. He had 3 sons and 3 daughters. He was a 'potter's presser'. We think he died in 1894 (1894 quarter 1, Wolstanton, folio 6b page 76) aged 54 years.
