f029 Nathaniel Robins [4gF;5gF;6gF] was married to f030 Elizabeth Robins. He was born in 1809 in Bere Alston in Devon, and died in 1897 (1897 quarter 3, Plymouth, folio 5b page 166). He had 1 daughter, Louisa. In the 1841 census, he was described as a lead miner and lived in Pepper Street. In the 1851 census (age 41) he was an innkeeper in Fore Street, Bere Alston. His name was written as 'Nathniel'.
In the 1861 census, he was described as a lead miner and lived in Pepper Street, Bere Ferrers, the third house from the shop. (note there was a Roberts family living at the shop??) (Bere Alston is actually in the parish of Bere Ferrers. So Pepper Street was classed as being in Bere Ferrers, although it was actually in Bere Alston. Also it is now called Cornwall Street)
In the 1871 census, he was in the same house, but where was his family? He was described as a miner.
In the 1881 census, he was in the same house and aged 72 he was described as a copper miner. His daughter Louisa was not there but his granddaughter (Fanny) was back with her two sons (greatgrandsons to Nathaniel).
In the 1891 census, he is now 82 years old and living with his daughter Louisa at 4 Victoria Street, Plymouth.
f030 Elizabeth Robins [4gM;5gM;6gM] was married to f029 Nathaniel Robins. She was born in 1805 in Bere Ferrers in Devon. She had 1 daughter, Louisa. She is mentioned in the 1841, 1851, 1861, 1871, 1881 censuses. She must have died in 1888 (1888 4th quarter, Tavistock, folio 5b page 244).
f171 Jane Roberts [4gM;5gM;6gM] was born in c1791 in Cornwall. In the 1841 census, she was living in Three Burrows (?) Kenwyn, Cornwall. She had 2 daughters and 2 sons. In 1861 we think she was a house keeper to Edward Roberts in Kea, Truro.
f027 David Roberts [3gF;4gF;5gF] was born in 1827 in Kenwyn, Cornwall. He was a son of Jane Roberts. In the 1841 census, he was living in Three Burrows (?) Kenwyn, Cornwall, a copper miner. He was married to f028 Louisa Robins (aged 16) in 1848 (1848 quarter 4, Plymouth, folio 9 page 504). In the 1851 census, he was living in Fore Street, Bere Alston. He was a mine labourer. In the 1861 census, Louisa is described as a miner's wife. I think he died in 1881 (1881 quarter 3, Stoke D, folio 5b page 173). He had 2 daughters, Louisa and Fanny.
f172 Frances Roberts [3gA;4gA;5gA] was born in c1822 in Kenwyn, Cornwall. She was a daughter of Jane Roberts. In the 1841 census, she was living in Three Burrows (?) Kenwyn, Cornwall. She was a copper miner.
f173 Charlotte Roberts [3gA;4gA;5gA] was born in c1827 in Kenwyn, Cornwall. She was a daughter of Jane Roberts. In the 1841 census, she was living in Three Burrows (?) Kenwyn, Cornwall. She was a copper miner.
f174 Samuel Roberts [3gU;4gU;5gU] was born in c1831 in Kenwyn, Cornwall. He was a son of Jane Roberts. In the 1841 census, he was living in Three Burrows (?) Kenwyn, Cornwall. He was an agricultural labourer. (Aged 10 years).
f028 Louisa Roberts (née Robins) [3gM;4gM;5gM] was born in 1832 in Bere Alston and was married to f027 David Roberts (aged 16) in 1848 (1848 quarter 4, Plymouth, folio 9 page 504). She was christened on 12 December 1832 in the Higher Chapel in Bere Alston. In the 1841 census she was living in Pepper Street. In the 1851 census, she was living in Fore Street, Bere Alston, and in the 1861 census was living at Pepper Street, Bere Ferrers, and was described as a miner's wife. She had 2 daughters, Louisa and Fanny. The next mention is in the 1891 census, having married f334 Nicholas Tucker, in 1882 (1882 quarter 4, Tiverton, folio 5b page 813), and was living at 4 Victoria Street, Plymouth. He was born in 1818.
f026 Thomas Baldwin [3gF;4gF;5gF] was born in Wrotham near Maidstone, in about 1800. He was married to f196 Jane [3gM;4gM;5gM]. He was called Tommy. The following story, although attributed to Thomas, is probably refering to his son James. He was in the Royal Horse Artillery during the Crimean War, (1853-1856), {Impossible because of Thomas's or James' ages}. The family story is that when he was 21 years old, his hair went completely white, when a cannon went off beside him. We think he was married on 31 October 1850 ?. {Again impossible. James was married in 1870}. In 1851 he was living at Borough Green, Wrotham, Kent. He was an agricultural labourer. We think he died either 1855 (quarter 4, Malling, folio 2a page 205) or 1856 (quarter 3, Malling, folio 2a page 222). He had 6 children f197 John Baldwin [2gU;3gU;4gU] born in 1841 (1844 quarter 1, Malling, folio 5 page 374) in Wrotham, Kent, f055 James Richard Baldwin born in Wrotham in 1846, f304 Sarah Baldwin [2gA;3gA;4gA] born in Wrotham in 1847 (1847 quarter 3, Malling, folio 5 page 337), f198 William Baldwin [2gU;3gU;4gU] born in Wrotham in 1850 (1844 quarter 3, Malling, folio 5 page 324), f306 Stephen Baldwin [2gU;3gU;4gU] born in Wrotham in 1852 (1852 quarter 3, Malling, folio 2a page 301), and f307 Ellen Baldwin [2gA;3gA;4gA] born in Wrotham in 1854 (1854 quarter 2, Malling, folio 2a page 335). In 1861 they were paupers in The Union Work House, West Malling.
f055 James Richard Baldwin [2gF;3gF;4gF] was born in 1850? (1846 1st quarter, Malling, folio 5 page 378) in Maidstone, Kent. He was a son of Thomas and Jane Baldwin. He was married to f025 Louisa Roberts in 1870 (4th. quarter, Stoke Damerel folio 5b page 679), Plymouth, and had two daughters, Florence Kate and Louisa Constance. In the 1851 census, she was living in Fore Street, Bere Alston and in the 1861 census, she was living with her mother and grandparents in Pepper Street, Bere Ferrers. She next appears in the 1881 census as married to James and living at 15 Artillery Place, Woolwich.
In 1891 she was living at 49 Coburg Street Plymouth, (3 houses from the Albion Hotel).
In 1901 she was living at 2 Buckingham Place, Plymouth. In 1911 she was living at 2 Buckingham Place, Plymouth.
The family story is that she robbed her son-in-law, John George Goodman, of cash that was hidden underneath the floor boards, to give to Leslie Doonan, her nephew, (I think this must be grandson). This caused a family breakup as John George Goodman, would not allow his wife, Louisa Constance, to keep in touch with her mother.
