Thomas Garner married Lizzie Rhead on 17/2/1901. They had 3 sons and 3 daughters. Both were members of the Salvation Army, and Thomas played the cornet in the Salvation Army Brass Band. By profession he was an engine winder, operating the equipment that lowered the cages down the shafts of the coal mines.
